Credit cards 'much better' than store cards

Credit cards are a much better option than store cards for consumers, according to Which?'s head of money research.

Paul Davies said that if consumers compared credit cards to store alternatives, the decision to apply for the former is "almost a no-brainer" as they often offer lower APR.

He added that unless a person is very disciplined with the number of times they use their store cards, it may be best to avoid them and the debt they could cause.

"I know some of the comparison sites do feature store cards, but most of them are very uncompetitive," he explained.

"But on the same sites you can have credit card comparisons, and if you can compare APR on the two it's almost a no-brainer. Credit cards are the much better option."

Which? is an independent registered charity with over 650,000 members.

The body was founded to help consumers get better deals and unbiased information on a number of issues and services.ADNFCR-1054-ID-18389157-ADNFCR
